Spring is here!

Spring has arrived here in the Okanagan!

Winter weather can be rough on your Okanagan home and can even cause damage to it.

Taking the time to give your home an annual inspection to check for damage is the best way to keep overall maintenance costs to a minimum and have your home looking its best. Spring is a great time to get outside, enjoy the warmer weather, and do some spring cleaning along with a bit of repairing around the exterior of your property.

Interior Tips:

- Clean Windows
Dirty panes are no problem when you use rubber-edged squeegees, which are quicker and more effective than cloth or newspaper.

- Wash Your Blinds
Wipe wooden blinds with a few drops of gentle wood cleaner on a nearly dry sponge.

- Manage Pet Hair
One of the most persistent issues pet owners face is animal hair -- on floors, furniture, and clothing. Place an old towel or sheet wherever your pet likes to rest, and periodically shake it outside to remove most of the hair before tossing it in the washing machine.

Exterior Tips:

- Gutters
Thoroughly cleaning your gutters every spring and fall will help keep them working like they’re supposed to.

- Roof
Be diligent about roof maintenance. Shingles that are curling, buckling or cracking need to be replaced.

- Trees and Shrubs
Trim overgrown trees and hedges away from your home to discourage the growth of mildew and moisture.

-Lawn and Garden
Rake up any left-over leaves that can suffocate your grass and stop it from growing. Pull up weeds and dead flowers in the garden and refresh mulch.

It’s a fact, concrete cracks. Repairing those cracks is necessary because water that finds its way into cracks will soften the ground underneath and cause more cracking.
